The goal is to sponsor projects that benefit the Embarcadero developer community and larger developer ecosystem. The final decision on which projects to sponsor and how much to sponsor is solely at Embarcadero’s discretion.
Submitting Your Project
- Publish your project on GitHub
- Review the requirements below (and optionally the tips)
- Create a short video overview of your project and future plans
- Follow @EmbarcaderoTech on Twitter
- Post the video with a link to your project on Twitter tagging @EmbarcaderoTech and using at least one of the hashtags #RAD104, #Delphi104, or #CBuilder104
- Complete this form with your information
- Keep updating and promoting your project
Requirements
- Compatibility with current shipping versions of Delphi or C++Builder (soon to be 10.4)
- May contain other programming languages, but must be predominantly Embarcadero compatible code
- Can build with any edition Embarcadero’s products
- If not currently compatible with the latest version, then the plan must include becoming compatible very soon
- With public visibility
- Any standard open source license
- All the code must be in compliance with that license - i.e. not including code belonging to anyone without their permission, etc.
- Readme.md must include a link to Embarcadero.com and enough information in English for evaluation of your project
- Projects can optionally be available via commercial licenses too
- Include GitHub topics: #Embarcadero, and #Delphi and/or #C++Builder with other topics as appropriate
- Include a funding button on the GitHub project and be set up to receive funding
- Embarcadero prefers to sponsor via GitHub, Patreon, or PayPal
- Projects must include a plan for future development and milestones that will result from sponsorship
- Preference for projects with community involvement and multiple contributors
- Recommend including an estimated budget
- This can be in the wiki, readme, or otherwise easily discoverable from the project page
- Community nominations and submissions via a Google Form and on Twitter
- Include a short video with project overview and plan (approximately 2-minute and silent is fine too)
- Embarcadero picks winners based on community backing and internal criteria
- Final decisions on sponsorship selection and the amount is Embarcadero’s
- Sponsorship may be a one-time contribution or ongoing monthly contributions (at Embarcadero’s discretion)
- Core project contributors may receive free Delphi and C++Builder licenses too
Tips
- Customize the Social Media preview for your project
- Have a consistent username on Twitter, GitHub, etc.
- Keep promoting your project on social media (Use images and video)
- Keep contributing to your project while you wait, this helps increase community engagement
- Have a good readme
- Explain your project and how to install and use it
- Embed images and videos
- Include an estimated budget in your proposal
- Enlist other developers to contribute and follow up with any submitted issues
- Research other tips on promoting your project and collecting sponsorship
- Verify you are set up to receive sponsorship via GitHub, Patreon, or PayPal
- This may result in sponsorship from others too!
